Services fees are a necessary evil in any service industry. Plumbers, electricians, roofers, construction professionals, etc. charge a fee to come to your home a fix an issue. Depending on the professional, there is a flat fee that covers travel to and from your home, as well as an additional hourly fee to fix the issue. Even when warranty work is involved, there could still be a “trip charge.” Here at Penn Windows you receive a 10 Year Service & Workmanship Warranty that covers all costs associated with warranty issues for the first 10 years you own the product. No charges what-so-ever for warranty work. However, if there is a non-warranty issue on those same products, a trip charge and service fee will apply.

Yard Signs

You’ve seen yard signs in your neighbors’ lawns for anything from new windows and doors to lawn services and painting. Yard signs are an inexpensive form of advertising for businesses in a neighborhood where they are currently (or just finished) working. Penn Windows, Doors & Siding has been using yard signs for over 10 years and we’d like you to consider allowing us to place a small yard sign in your yard for a week after our project is complete. These signs are disposable, so you can simply throw them away after use. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you again for using Penn Windows, Doors & Siding.

Window Condensation

Believe it or not, that condensation (or even frost!) that you’re seeing on your newly installed windows is a good sign! This condensation is a sign that you’re tightening up the energy efficiency of your home, making it less expensive to heat and cool, as well as more comfortable. While there are several factors that can cause condensation on both the inside and outside of your new windows, you can rest assured that your windows are doing their job!

No Wood Here

Personally, I have nothing against wood windows and doors. Very little can compare to the beauty of wood. I love the smell of wood, the warmth & sophistication, the luxury of it. If I had lots of money and a mansion with care takers, I’d have wood everything. But that’s not the case. I have a great house in Northampton that my husband and I must maintain & budget for ourselves. I love my house, but the name of the game in my household is ease of maintenance and energy efficiency.

We’re running out of room in our Richards showroom! Hunter Douglas has so many beautiful and unique window covering options that we’re constantly adding new displays! Since ½ of our showroom is dedicated to blind and shade displays (the other ½ is Penn Windows, Doors & Siding) we’ve gotten creative in the past by displaying products on walls and behind the counter. But there is simply too much to show our customers, so we’ve taken down an older display and re-purposed that area for blinds and shades! We have added a large vertical display to showcase window treatment options for patio doors and large windows (4 treatments in total). Then we updated our Hunter Douglas Alustra displays with all the newest premium blinds and shades and moved it to a different part of the showroom. The result is more spacious and attractive for our showroom visitors, plus there’s more to see! You have to visit us at 1518 Union Boulevard in Allentown and let us know what you think! A fair question, considering a lot of contractors stop by when you’re not home and quickly look over your project and send you a generic written estimate a few weeks later (if at all!). Penn Windows, Doors & Siding is not like other contractors. We schedule an “in-home consultation” with you. We’re coming to your home to listen and learn about your project, give you ideas, go over options, explain installation, measure, and in most cases – give you a price right then and there!
